Elastic OSC is a synthesizer application that leverages the digital signal processing code from Mutable Instruments' Plaits hardware oscillator module, a highly regarded and frequently emulated component within the Eurorack modular synthesizer community. Similar to its hardware counterpart, Elastic OSC offers a broad spectrum of sonic textures, spanning analog-style tones, frequency modulation, additive synthesis, physical modeling, percussive sounds, and even drum-like timbres.

The software supports both monophonic and polyphonic (up to eight voices) configurations, providing flexible performance options. Users can interface with the synthesizer via an on-screen keyboard or connect external MIDI controllers or sequencers within their preferred digital audio workstation environment.

Designed with usability in mind, Elastic OSC features an intuitive interface centered around two XY control pads that facilitate real-time manipulation of the oscillator engine and effects parameters. Despite the streamlined visual design, the sonic potential remains extensive—featuring 24 distinct oscillator models and automation capabilities for numerous parameters, consistent with other titles in the Elastic series.

An integrated arpeggiator adds further versatility, enabling both straightforward melodic ideas and complex soundscapes to be crafted with ease through various modes, rate adjustments, octave controls, and note-skipping functions.

The application includes a comprehensive help system accessible via a “?” button, offering detailed explanations of GUI elements, DSP models, and overall functionality to support users in exploring the full depth of the instrument.
